Front Doors Bind

I have two Saab 9000's. One is an '86 Turbo, the second is a '94 CS. =
On the older one (which I had first) the front doors (both passenger and =
driver) have always had the hold-open mechanism bind, so that the doors =
would snap loudly twice when opening fully and snap loudly twice when =
closing. I had been concerned that the sheet metal at either end would =
fatigue and start to crack. All methods of lubrication have been tried =
and none worked. I always suspected that the car had been crashed =
before I owned it and a stiffening part had been left out. More serious =
is that the '94 has now started snapping loudly. In fact, the door =
metal has fatigued and begun to crack. Once again, all efforts have =
been made to lubricate without success. Any suggestions? I have not =
removed the door panel inside and attempted lubrication. This car has =
not been crashed.
