Knocking at Cold Start

I have noticed a few times on a cold start,
independent or ambient temperature, a knocking
sound from the engine. It lasts for a very short
time, 3 or 4 knocks an after that disappears
completely.
I am running the engine on Castrol GTX3 15W-40 at
the moment so the oil is thick in startup. One
possible source I have been thinkin of is the
balance shaft chain tensioner. It has a small
spring that pushes the tensioner against the chain
until oil pressure builds up and tensiones the
chain. Perhaps the oil pressure builds up slower
with the relatively high viscosity oil. At next
oil change i'll switch to GTX3 Magnatec 10W-40.
Does this sound logical and has anyone experienced
similar noise?

Markus
