at my wits end despite input from at least 3 different Saab specialists
incl. senior Saab maindealer engineer!

classic 900 T16S Aero 1987 / 200k miles. For several years now the tendency
has developed for the vehicle to 'kangaroo' - i.e. particularly when moving
in traffic, 2,3,4 gear, with small inputs of throttle to maintain speed
with the flow, the vehicle will enter a mode of oscillation, revs
increasing decreasing with a period of about 0.25 or 0.5 sec, the car
rocking in pitch axis. Also, when the throttle is tickled to accelerate a
little bit, it initally 'dethrottles' so to speak. All this calls for a lot
of clutch work.

We have replaced engine mounts, lambda sensor (a long shot), inspected
timing chain tension (could it be stretched nevertheless??), and also inlet
manifold fittings for leaks, also throttle cable and throttle damper
inspected.

The system behaves like there is backlash somewhere for example something
in the induction circuit waving in the breeze.

Remaining thoughts - is it the timing chain / wheel ? Are there components
of the manifold which in failure could behave as flap-valves ?
Transmission ?? Computer ?

The vehicle is at times almost undriveable..... but on the open fast road
still thrills ...
