shifter problems 1996 900se turbo 5 speed -
I would appreciate knowing if anyone has had this problem and to understand
how widespread it is. A few weeks ago my shifter was not able to engage
any gears. After having it towed the Saab dealer replaced the following
part numbers (46-85-806, 42-82-323 and 43-87-361) and the car was back on
the road, all was ok. Three weeks latter same thing happened! no gears!
Different dealer, diifferent city...dealer tells me that Saab had issued a
TSB and there was a kit that had a re-design of the parts forward of the
firewall. Part numbers 46-26-321, 46-26-537 and 46-26-577 were
installed...car seems fine. This last fix cost around $200 for parts plus
labor so it wasn't cheap...
Losing use of gears can be a real safety related issue....has anyone had
this problem? Apparently cars after 1996 have the new shifter design....
