Like all recent Saabs, capacity is rated at 1000 lb. for unbraked trailers,
2000 lb. for trailers with electric brakes (I believe it's on the door
pillar, as well as the owners' manual). I imagine that there are LOTS of
people who have seriously violated these ratings. When towing with any
passenger car, or even a truck which is not specifically set up as a tow
vehicle, discretion is the better part of valor. Keep the speeds down, go
easy on the brakes, and especially go easy on the transmission. Tom
Donney, owner of TDSaab and a large commercial A/T rebuilding shop, says
that his two busy seasons are 'take the boat to the lake' and 'bring the
boat home'.
