There is a rubber connection in the shift linkage between the transmission
and the shift lever. It is in the engine compartment and your 92 is about
the right age for one side of the rubber bonded connection to start coming
apart resulting in the sort of symptoms you are having. If it breaks
completely you are stranded. I would recommend having a dealer or good shade
tree saab mechanic check that joint. It is a well know fault in older manual
tranny 9000s and an improved joint is available at more cost.

Seat heaters are a bit more complicated. Make sure the connector under the
sear for the heater is plugged together and check out the fuse. You should
hear a click as you turn the dial to different heat levels if the control has
power. Again the age of the car would indicate that the heater in the seat
probably has a broken wire by now and won't heat. It is possible to pull
back the seat cover and splice the heater wire by soldering.
