Saab vs. Monte Carlo

I found it interesting to see people comparing the saab to the american
cars. They have become americanized a bit since the gm investment. Over
the last 15 years of buying cars I always looked at saabs and found them
too slow, except for the turbos, which were too expensive, and the dealers
in my area were always snobby jerks.

Last month I gave my wife a chice of any car she wanted, within reason (its
been a good year). I prefer VW's myself, and wanted her to get a Passat (I
have 3 vw's, and they are more tuneable tnan most.)

She test drove the 2-door volvo (hated it), the Passat (thought it was ok,
but seats not comfortable for her), the audi's A4 (same complaint) MB c230
and 280 (liked them, but thought they were pretentious for her age), the
infinity I30 (she wasn't real impressed) the BMW 328 (liked it a lot,
especially w/o the sport suspension) and the Saab 9-5 SE (she was
supprised, but she liked it the most because of comfort and the
buick/olds/maxima type ride).

I like it ok, but even with the v6 turbo (or half a turbo), but I find it
lacks excitement. (Id rather have a ford f150 twon cab to lug my ducati
and harley around, but that's for another list).

Well, anyway, it was her choice, so she got to pick, and the saab it was. I
have to say that no American car suits our style or matches the features of
the saab. For me, too much body roll on the Saab but, heh, its her car,
and she loves it, and therefore she is happy, and thus i am happy.

God Bless Saab, when the wife is happy, i am happy.
