straightforward way is a bit of black tape, although to do the tape thing
correctly you need to pull out the instrument cluster.

This may not be elegant - but it works: It's much easier to access the
trionic box than doing the 'dash-board route'. I'm not sure about the 9-5
or 9-3, but I know that the last model 9000 ('98) required no more than
eight short screws to remove the plastic panel that covers the said 'box'.
On a '98, the shift-up light circuit exits the trionic connecter at pin #55
(it's a 70-pin conn.). I'd bet that it's on a similiar high number pin on
the 9-5/3, too. It's a white wire that runs thru another connecter
(2-pin), then to the back of the unit that holds the numerous warning
indicators. It's not 'elegant' but works, or should I say doesn't work,
just fine! Of course. I'd take a look at the schematics at some saab
dealer, first. Of the 36 wires on the 70 pin connector, four are white.
