Prelude: Two days ago I inadvertently spilled about a quart of water
down the radio and center console of my 1990 900 turbo.  I cleaned
  it up as fast as possible.  In the process of cleaning it I apparently
pressed the dome light switch, for later that evening I had to turn it off.
I have no evidence that this has anything to do with the following
problems, but the coincidence is too strong to ignore.

The next morning when I started it, the engine made a loud hissing/humming
noise.  I tried to roll down the window to hear it better and the engine died.
Then when I tried to start it again, it wouldn't even turn over.  I got a jump,
and it sounded normal and ran normally.  I ran several errands during the
day, stopping and starting, with no further problems.

This morning the same noise was present.  I gingerly tried both windows;
neither one moved, but the engine stumbled.  The sunroof would not open
either, and the tach showed zero rpm.  I popped the hood and could hear
the noise better: it is steady hissing/humming accompanied by a slight
rattle.  I turned the ignition off, started it again, and it ran fine: no 
noise,
windows working.

Anybody know what is wrong here?
