One of the benefits of computer-everything is that the system will diagnose
problems early, before something breaks down completely and leads to poor
running or becoming marooned somewhere you don't want to be. Note that
'problems' are defined to include anything that renders the vehicle
non-compliant with emissions regulations, so the 'problem' can even include
failures that won't ever affect running. It takes but a couple of minutes
for a skilled tech to 'pull a code' and isolate the problem.
