One more for the 2000 wagon thread. I bought a 2000 wagon (5 spd) for my
wife.. I am on my second 9-5 (first was a 1999 5 spd, now a 2000 Aero) and
since I am a 3 time buyer, my observations may be more focused than some
other folks..

1. The wagon feels more balanced. the extra weight in the back is helpful.
2. The build quality of my wagon was the worst of the 3 9-5s. Whistle for
passenger door incorrectly aligned. Rattling overhead light, defect in hood
paint. All fixed by the dealer, but when compared to 80k+ miles on the
other 2 9-5's with no warranty work.. it is not acceptable. I'm hoping it
was just a monday trim assembly :)
3. The rear wiper is awesome. especially the washer spray nozzles on the
wiper arm.
4. Power is adequate with the stick, the auto I drove (a loaner Se-V6) had
a lot more zip.
5. Mileage is the hidden value on all the 9-5 base-sticks. 32-33 highway
consistently and 26+ around town.
6. The fuel tank redesign that happened between by first and second 9-5
that took the tank from 19.5 gallons to 18.5 gallons and added that
annoying 'clunk'-swoosh' when the tank is 15/16ths full and you stop hard,
is present on the wagon but less noticeable than the sedan.
7. Get the premium sound system!
8. The rear seats fold flat, no really, FLAT as a board.. headrests push
down and the seats fold.. cool as heck, and painless.
9. Real people can really ride in the backseat, with some headroom to spare.
10. You can get a 5 spd - hard pressed to find anything this size in the US
with a manual transmission option!
11. Overall yeah you can buy a Focus or a Volvo but if you want a car that
drives well, gets good mileage, fits a lot of stuff, and is one of the
safest cars the European crash people have ever tested.. this is it!

Anyone with a question, please feel free to e-Mail me.
