Fox Police Video Program

The Fox network aired a program yesterday (Thur, 1/6) at 8 PM
as part of their 'police videos' series. This hour program
was called 'Getting Tickets in America.' While it covered
many situations, the lead off was an eventual chase of a
classic Saab 900, probably an 85 hatchback model.

The video comes from the patrol car camera mounted in the front
windshield. The Saab was stopped, the driver taken out of the
car and then the driver escaped from the cop's 'grip.' The driver
then jumped back in the car and took off onto what looked like a
limited access highway. The Saab looked great being pursued - smooth.

The Saab exited and missed some debris that the patrol car ran
over that caused the cop's tire(s) to go flat. The Saab was
getting away on local rural/suburban streets and almost escaped
since the cop could not continue pursuit with the flat(s) and
there was no backup that could get there in time.

So, the cop decided to pass the Saab. When the Saab tried a
side-swipe, it resulted in the Saab spinning and a crashing into a
sign post. The Saab performed in the superb manner we have come to
expect and the driver opened the door and started running. He was
caught soon after. No broken glass either.

It was rather exciting, in part because of the car!
