2.3L High Mileage Reliability and NG900

I am thinking about buying a higher mileage (130 kmiles or more) 9000 with
2.3 l. Now I've been told that the balancers, especially the chain that
drives the balancers, don't have a very long life: it should be renewed at
approx. 130 k miles, because if the chain breaks (it seems to be very thin
and moves at twice the speed of the distribution chain), it would mostly
fall down and destroy the distribution chain. Now I know that the
distribution chain mostly will make some kind of noice, indicating that it
needs some work. Does the chain that moves the balancers also give some
kind of sign? I would prefer the 2.3 because it is more silent (due to the
balancers) and faster. I don't intend to buy a turbo, because I want to
drive the car on lpg (liquified petrol gas). Any ideas or experiences? At
the moment my 9000 2.0 is at 2.1 kmiles and is still doing well, but the
gearbox is making a lot of noice, so I think it is going to die and the car
does not look that great, so I would be glad to buy a better one. Sometimes
I am also considering the NG 900. Have the 1994 models that still drive
around now, been corrected for the problems those cars had when they came
on the market?

Happy Saabing,
Dre
