The 9-X is a concept car, not a production prototype.  It is a signpost to
the direction the company *may* travel - in terms of style, (bold front,
wrap-around glass, high waist line, 'soft panel' electronic display)
chassis (AWD, engine behind the axle line), engine (DOHC all aluminum turbo
V6, with 'Saab Combustion Control' direct injection), transmission
(sequential shift manual gearbox, possibly with automatic  clutch and shift
function), and features (removeable roof, fold-down tail gate to combine
pickup truck functionality in a 'car' chassis).  How much of this and to
what degree it will be implemented remains to be seen.

As discussed in NINES #256 (going to the printers soon - watch for a table
of contents), the 9-3X introduced at the North American International Auto
Show is much closer to the realm of production vehicles, carrying many
similarities with New 9-3.
