There are only two 'generations' of DI cassette. The Red & the Black.

THEY SHOULD NOT BE INTERCHANGED!!!!

I don't know what the differences are, but the Black DI cassettes are
fitted ONLY to the 2.3 liter 9-3 Viggen and 9-5 Aero, and any of the
2000/2001 cars with Trionic T7 (drive-by-wire).

There were several models of the Red cassette. Early models had a
long cable with two connectors, and replaceable ignition coils. Over
time they eliminated the replaceable coils (they leaked) and replaced
the cable with a connector mounted to the cassette, and, if you had
one of the originals, an extension cable.

The latest Red unit replaces all of the prior ones. The only thing
you need know is that if the cable doesn't connect right to the DI
cassette (on the left side of the motor. Driver's left...), you'll
need to buy that extension cable also.
