Front Brake Calipers

My 1987 900S has recently survived its first winter in Western =
Pennsylvania. Coming from Virginia, the car had not been exposed to =
road salt before this time. When I recently completed a front pad =
change, I was having difficulty making the outer pad on the driver's =
side fit. I turned in the caliper piston and flushed the brake fluid as =
I do every time I renew the pads. Although this time the caliper =
hardware was very crusty and sticky from the road salt. I cleaned up =
the assembly, but it appears that the yoke on the caliper will not yield =
enough clearance to allow the outer pad to fit in even after I sprayed =
penetrating oil on the assembly several times. Have other readers in =
the rust belt come across this situation? I realize that I will have to =
replace the caliper sooner or later, but I want to try to prevent this =
in the future. Any information would be appreciated.=20

Thanks,
Greg Dolak
