It is time for me to replace the tires on my 1996 900SET. The OEM tires are
205 50 ZR16 Michelin Pilot HX. We've been pretty happy with the tread wear
(around 40-45 K miles) and dry pavement handling and overall feel and road
noise. The wet pavement handling has not been very good, with a tendency to
hydroplane. These tires are expensive, also (around $205.00 at Tirerack)!
So, I've started researching performance tires with better wet road grip,
without giving up on performance. My search has led me to the Pirelli P7000
($150) and P7000 Supersport ($110). What is the collective wisdom of the
Saab Network on these tires? Also, what is the difference between the two
tires that leads to the $40 price difference between them? Any other tire
recommendations ? It seems to be hard to find any tires in this category
with less than a 'Z' rating. Being from the Boston area, we don't often
have the opportunity to drive at sustained speeds of 148+, so a 'Z' tire is
not a priority for me.  Thanks in advance for the advice.
