Jumping out of Gear & Collecting Water

Shortly after I had the clutch replace on my '95 900 SET, the shifter
started doing something strange and unnerving. Often (but not always) when
I shift from 1st to 2nd (and very occasionally it also happens when going
form 2nd to 3rd and 3rd to 4th), the shifter will pop or snap back out of
gear when I depress the clutch to shift. I have always noticed (even
before the clutch replacement) that the shifter seemed as if it was almost
spring loaded, but significantly worse since the clutch replacement. Has
anyone experienced this before? What would cause this? Can this be
adjusted?

The rain has officially set in for the winter here in the Pacific Northwest,
nearly six inches in Tacoma this month! Normally my Saab handles it well,
drives well in the rain and doesn't leak (unlike my last car a BMW, leaky
trunk). However, when I opened the rear hatch several days ago there was
literally a waterfall pouring down through the latch from inside the hatch.
I let this drain out, then removed one of the three rubber plugs that fill
wholes in the bottom of the hatch only to have water flow continuously for
thirty seconds or so. I have never had this problem before. How would
water get _inside_ the rear hatch door? Are there holes at the top (near
the roof) where water could get in (perhaps where the wires for the lights,
wiper and latch release are fed through?)? I would appreciate any
suggestions, we have several more months of rain here and I don't like the
idea of the rear hatch becoming an aquarium.

Thanks,

Nathan Appleton
