Convertible Top Strangeness

I have a 1995 900SE V6 conv. (102,500 mi's) and recently it started pausing
when i'm putting the top up. Kind of a eeeeeen-eh-eeeeeeen sound. <grin>
I've only noticed it going up, and it's during the step where the main top is
coming over the car. From my understanding there are sensors and motors on
both sides, but it doesn't seem as though only one side is doing it. It
seems as though the entire top does a split-second stop. Any ideas?
Suggestions?
Thanks in advance,
L
