You forgot the extra power leading to early transmission failures...

Turbo Powered Saabs have been refined quite a bit over the decades since
yours were made. Bear in mind that the newest Turbo which you referenced
was made a scant 4 years after Turbo production started, with the other two
being 'first year' models. Water cooling and improved oils have reduced
turbine failures to the point of being rarities. The 9000, NG900, 9-3 and
9-5 exhaust maiflolds are very compact and well designed and don't crack.
The Direct Ignition system does away with distributors and plug wires. The
16 valve head has proven extremely durable - valve problems are rare
(absent a timing chain break), and the head cracking which the 8-valve
engines, both turbo and non, experienced has been cured.
