Start Up Stalling

Whenever I start my 1989 9000T in the morning the car will start fine;
however, after a few seconds of running the engine RPM's will suddenly drop
to 300 or so and then jump back up to 1000. Yesterday the car stalled. The
only variable I could think about that would have made it stall was the
weather was cool for this time of year in N.Y. (56F) that morning. Once the
car is running or even when started later on in the day this problem will
not occur.
I bought this car back in July and it has been doing this ever since. The
car has 34,000 original miles on it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank You,
Stefan Bauroth
