Why doesn't the alarm remote not work? I would of thought that the new
battery would do the trick.

If the remote is really toast, you are up the creek. I had my remote stolen
while on a trip and the only way to get into my car (alarm was activated) was
to have my extra set couriered to me from home.

The dealer I spoke to said that if the alarm is activated and there is no
alarm remote available, then the only way to get the car to work is to
replace the entire alarm and ignition inactivator system. I was quoted $1200
to do this. Saab Canada confirmed that this is true.

Frankly I think that this is just stupid. Surely there should be a way
whereby a dealer could obtain a code to deactivate the system so the car
would run again (kind of like the code for the radio). I understand the
concern for unauthorized people getting the code from the dealer but I think
that the concern is taken way too far. In any event, Saab said that they
would pass my concerns on to the engineering department - for whatever
that's worth.

Hopefully, you can get the alarm remote to work. Then apparently they can
program another remote for you so you will have a spare. As for me, I don't
plan on using the car's alarm system ever again. I don't want to turn my
Saab into a very expensive paper weight.
