Dead 900

Well, I needed to replace the front motor mount on my relatively
newly-acquired '87 900T. I got the mount loosened easily enough, but I
couldn't remove it from the tiny hole it was in. So, I decided that if I
pulled the radiator, I could easily remove the mount from the front (the
Bentley manual I have is unclear how to remove the mount). I don't know if
this is the proper procedure or not.

So, I removed the pipe from the compressor outlet to the intercooler,
removed the compressor and intake pipe line from the APC solenoid, removed
the coil from the front of the car, drained the coolant, disconnected the
fans and temperature sensor, and pulled the radiator up about 4 inches.
Worked great. Put everything back together, opened bleeder valve, filled w/
coolant as per Bentley, started car, great, it ran great. However, the fans
came on as soon as I started the car and stayed that way. Normal? I'm not
sure I have the polarity on the coolant temp sensor right.

After about 7-10 minutes of idling, the car came up to temp, and there were
no coolant leaks. I took the car for a quick trip around the block, and it
was only getting base boost. Strange. I've had problems with the boost
control before, but everything has been working really well recently. I get
on the car again, again get base boost only, shift to 2nd, and the car
died.

I restarted it, and the car ran very very poorly: erratic unstable idle and
would barely stay running. I limped it back home. This morning, it wouldn't
start.

Seems like one of a couple things: 1) A vacuum leak. I checked the lines
running to APC solenoid, they were all on tight. The compressor-to-
intercooler pipe was also on tight. This almost feels like an air metering
problem, like air is being sucked in around the MAF. 2) Spark problem. I
verified that the coil wire was firmly plugged in. 3) Could reverse
polarity on the temp sensor cause the ECU to freak out once under boost?
Why won't the car re-start?

Sorry this is so long, but I wanted to give all the relevant details. If
anyone can help me out, I would really really appreciate it!

Thanks!
Rob Cadle
