If your '96 900S is a 6-cylinder, the following o2 sensor info applies:

Price not available from common on-line parts sources.

If your ignition system has some work done on it, chances are it was a DI
cassette replacement, which means your car is likely a 4-cylinder. In that
case, you should be paying about $300 for the original SAAB parts. Labor
time for replacing both o2 sensors can't be more than an hour, especially
when you have all the special tools and a lift at your disposal.

There's a very good chance that each of the four o2 sensors listed above is
nothing more than a standard generic 4-wire Bosch unit connected to a cable
of a certain length that ends in a SAAB-specific connector. You may be able
to find a much cheaper 4-wire Bosch sensor, which is identical except for the
wire and the plug, which you could cut and splice as necessary. Bosch 13275
(0 258 003 275) and 13227 (0 258 003 227) both look like it they work in
place of any of the front-mounted (pre-converter) SAAB-specific sensors, and
it costs only $39-$41.

Bosch now has a universal o2 sensor product line, with part numbers ranging
from 15725 through 15738. I have confirmed the existence of these fourteen
Bosch part numbers, but there may be more numbers out there. These universal
sensors come with an official-looking posi-lock splice kit. Sensor 15729
comes with the splice kit, costs $48, and looks just like 13275.

The cheapest cut-and-splice 3-wire Bosch o2 sensor replacement for older
SAABs is Bosch 13913, which costs a mere $32, and is specified for some sort
of Ford product. 13950, 13953 and 13942 are all similar, and fall into the
same price range. 15726 is $52, and comes with the splice kit.

For SAABs that use a 1-wire (unheated) o2 sensor, the universal Bosch
replacement is 11025, and costs about $18.

Best regards,

David.
