Daytime Running Lights

A while ago, I asked about what bulb was necessary for the daytime running
lights on a 9000 CSE. Either I never replaced it until now (my wife drives
the car) or the other one went, since I noticed it again this week.

Once again, the manufacturer's book at the auto parts store didn't list the
bulb, and the dealer (Great Britains in Willow Grove PA--a pox on them: the
people that came with the Saab franchise they bought have been treated like
dirt, and based on the cars they have on display out front, they're much
more interested in their Land Rover franchise and in selling used BMWs)
couldn't tell me anything more than the Saab part number, which was
useless.

Fortunately, the bulb was marked: it's a W5W. The equivalent from Sylvania
is #2815, and the Philips number is 12981. When you take it out, be sure
to reach to the bottom of the light assembly, since the high-beam is the
same assembly. Turn the holder counterclockwise to remove it, and the bulb
pulls straight out.

One more thing: you could disable the DRLs by removing the bulbs. Just
make sure to put the holders back in so dirt doesn't enter the light
assembly.

now only driven about 8,000 a year!)
