Ouch. Well, it may not be connected, but I had a gearbox problem
with my 6mth-old 9-3 just recently. Parked it ok, but when returning
from shopping, couldn't get 1st. Left the car park in 2nd, and found the
gearbox rather random to say the least.

The nice AA man came to look at it, and found that a bolt had almost
unscrewed itself in the linkages that you can see just before it enters the
gearbox. Whether this was a 'generic' fault, or a friday-pm-special I
may never know. Its perhaps worth taking a look at the linkages that
you can see under the bonnet while someone else waggles the stick.

Good luck.
Wayne
