On the idle problem, you might check the fuel pressure regulator for a
leaking diaphram. On my daughters 88 900S the diaphram started leaking,
which allows gasoline (petrol :) ) to leak thru into the intake manifold
side of regulator, which is then 'sucked' into the manifold. Every few
seconds a 'blob' of fuel would get sucked in and the idle would shudder a
bit. Driving down the road you didn't notice the problem, but it did cause
a bit of a hot start problem because the fuel would leak into the manifold
from the residual pressure in system and flood the engine a bit.
